Right- old place they lived in- actually condemned property

Left, the house they are now renting (at least they now have a working toilet!)

Pastor (Dr.) James Arcieri

Sharing A Word!  Something disturbing has been slowly taking over our evangelical churches in this country.  For some time, the sense of the “lostness” of the world has been diminished.  Why?  Is it theological – we just don’t really believe the world needs the gospel anymore?  Since so much of the world is now civilized, and Westernized in technology and culture, is there really a need for people to repent and believe the good news?  Can’t they survive without it?  Is it religious – are we overwhelmed with the threat of Islam and its power, its extremists and their terrorism?  Is it political – are we distracted and perhaps misguided with “taking our country back for God through the ballot box?”  Is it philosophical – are we enamored of the Great American Dream that missions is no longer relevant? Is it economic – we just can’t afford to give as much as our parents gave because we have to own more than our parent’s owned?  Whatever the causes, there is a serious shift in the interest in the rising generation – and that shift is the loss of interest in missions.

By contrast, the Great Commission from Jesus has never been rescinded!  The command is still in place, the condition of the world is still the same, and the vision of the end is still the same – some from every tribe, tongue and nation. Thus, there is still a need for Christians to be able to see the world as Jesus sees it – people harassed and helpless, without a shepherd, but white for harvest.  The missions courses at Providence Bible College and Seminary are designed to impart that perspective for this generation.  Every generation requires leadership in missions; the courses at Providence will equip the student with the necessary understanding and information to inspire, guide and empower their peers with the vision of making disciples of all nations.

This brother was called into the ministry and God really touched him powerfully. This man started a ministry in the slums of Panama City 1 month later.

The picture gives a good view of the atmosphere- people worshipping, watching in wonder, and one sister is breastfeeding (left), Pastor Mariana (blue dress) was translating for me.

Most of the population in Panama is Roman Catholic. And a lot of people practice or at least believe in witchcraft.
